Sorrow in the Bleak Midwinter

I grieve for Berlin, in the wake of the truck vs Christmas Market incident. I used to shop up and down the “Ku-damn” regularly, not only at the holiday season.  The killer is dead now, shot in Italy (?!) by police.

I marvel at how many of these “soldiers of ISIL” turn out to be small-time criminal malcontents who seem to decide at a long stint of loser-dom to gloss themselves with heroism for a lost cause by hitching their wagons to the sooner-or-later-to-be-dead horse of ISIL.

And for a religion that does not particularly view the concept of adoption as most Western nations do?  ISIL sure is willing to adopt and claim by name any small time crook willing to turn mass murderer.
